Responsibility
The job of the artist comes with a set of responsibilities that are not completely understood. Work that generates money or a high level of acclaim is often criticized as irresponsible, for instance. Creative work holds the power to greatly affect an audience and the maker must understand their role in producing work that others will see. When a tool that a maker uses is their point of view, it’s vital to understand what that point of view is and what it’s consequences are. This development of a point of view occurs through the practice of producing work but is subject to the constant influence of culture. Observing the pressures on the development of a point of view is necessary when it comes to being responsible and conscientious in the production of creative labor.
